Eva Larkin is undertaking a two-year QEST Apprenticeship in woven textile design with master weaver Laura Miles, Founder and Director of WOVEN in London. Having started working with Laura in 2024, Eva will now build on this early experience through structured training focused on slow craftsmanship, sustainable processes and technical development. With a background in textile design from Chelsea College of Arts, where she first specialised in weave, Eva brings a strong interest in natural fibres, dyeing and colour. Her practice is guided by the quiet pace of weaving and by a respect for the history, cultural heritage and community traditions embedded in this craft.Â
Throughout the apprenticeship Eva will deepen her technical skill and commercial understanding. Training will include Jacquard design, loom operation, sampling, client consultation and the practical experience gained through trade fairs, sales trips and small business mentoring. This combination of studio learning and professional exposure will also help her to expand her network. Longterm, Eva hopes to explore weaving within a fine art context and contribute to the continued vitality of woven textiles in the UK.
