Guy graduated from a foundation degree in Art and Design at Hereford College of Arts in 2013 with a distinction, then completed a BA in Fine Art at London Metropolitan University. Since then he has been producing, exhibiting and selling ceramic works both domestically and internationally. He has also completed a two-year MA in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art.
In 2021 Guy started a practice-lead PhD course in Ceramics at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham and his QEST Scholarship supported him during his second and third years. This practice-led research degree focused on an investigation into clay body testing. Using ceramic chemistry and engineering methods, he tested clay body composition and the effects of additives, which enabled him to develop his sculptural ceramic practice. The course imparted an inter-disciplinary approach to PhD Supervision, gave him novel insight into ceramic practice, and provided invaluable access to studio resources.
Having completed his PhD and QEST-funded training, he aims to continue developing his teaching practice and wants to set an example for UK institutions to teach ceramic science as part of artistic practice.
