Helen has always had a keen interest in saddlery having ridden from a young age. At the age of five she watched a Master Saddler at work and decided this was the profession for her to pursue. Helen graduated from Cordwainers College, London with a HND in Saddlery Technology in 2000, before completing a four year apprenticeship at Pointings Saddlery, Bath. In 2004 Helen set up HR Saddlery, offering a full range of services from bespoke bridlework to saddle fitting.
QEST funding allowed Helen to undertake a course in Side Saddle Manufacture and Refurbishment at The Saddlery Training Centre, Salisbury, under Master Saddler Richard Godden. Whilst already an experienced Master Saddler, this specialist training has allowed Helen to service the increasing demand for side saddles within West Wales.
