Izzy is an aspiring heritage craftsperson based in Cornwall, currently developing her skills in traditional building conservation through an apprenticeship with qualified stonemason and conservation specialist Jo Thompson of Tekter Lime and Stone.
Working on historic and listed buildings, Izzy is gaining practical experience in the use of traditional lime mortars and plasters, learning how to repair and conserve historic fabric using appropriate materials and techniques. Alongside site-based training, she will undertake an NVQ Level 3 in Heritage Plastering with Carrington Lime, supported by additional specialist training including pargetting and Cornish hedging.
Izzy is passionate about traditional crafts and has shown exceptional commitment, curiosity, and determination in her work. Through her QEST-funded apprenticeship, she aims to build a long-term career in heritage conservation, helping to preserve traditional skills and contribute to the future of the UK’s historic built environment.
