Jo Grogan

2022 QEST Grandey’s Place Scholar - Wood Carving
London

Fascinated by our shared cultural history and the natural world, Jo’s work is a celebration of two of her greatest passions; craftsmanship and nature.

She combines ideas from her previous experience as a fashion designer with her transition to wood carving, resulting in the creation of unique pieces that push traditional boundaries and offer contemporary interpretations of historical themes.

Jo’s QEST training enabled her to undertake one-to-one training in needlework at the Royal School of Needlework, as well as funding her final year at City & Guilds of London Art School where she completed her training in Historic Woodcarving and Gilding.

With a deep passion for the environment and social equality, Jo is dedicated to employing sustainable practices in the sourcing and production of her work. Additionally, she integrates social charitable schemes within her artistic endeavours, further promoting her commitment to making a positive impact.

My work explores the cross-over of multiple disciplines with my past informing my present, I am fascinated with the intersection of historic form and nature.
