Make Your Own Maille with Andrew Braund

Learn how to make your own maille (often referred to as chainmail). You will be shown how to make two different weaves; European 4 – 1 and half Persian 3 – 1. You will also be signposted to resources to help you further develop your skills whether making jewellery or armour.

Andrew will introduce you to the history of maille, its terminology and variations. They will demonstrate the manufacture of links and help you create your own samples of maille, which can be turned into a bracelet or necklace.

You will be working with copper alloy links although the methods you learn will be applicable to a wide range of materials including both ferrous and precious metals.
