Grant McCaig is a silversmith and artist based in London who takes an organic approach to finding extraordinary beauty in metals and the idea of function and preciousness associated with materials such as silver.
The QEST scholarship enabled him to study at the Royal College of Art from 2009 – 2011 where he was able to engage with new emerging processes of manufacture and make contacts to other makers from different disciplines.
In his current body of work Grant have chosen to work exclusively with iron and silver. This particular combination of materials appeals to him as he feels that both carry particular histories and expectations.

His work is held in numerous private and public collections including the Bute House Collection, home of Scotland’s first minister, Birmingham Museums and Art Galleries, and Goldsmiths’ Hall Modern Collection.
