Margaret Jones
The Garfield Weston Foundation
Summer | 2014

Margaret Jones is a tapestry weaver located in West Sussex. Although she has only been weaving for four years she has already achieved success in her chosen field. She has exhibited internationally and in July 2014 was awarded the ‘Valerie Power Award’ by the trustees of the Edward James Foundation for her three dimensional tapestry weaving.

The Qest scholarship in 2014 will enable her to complete her Master of Fine Art at West Dean College, specialising in tapestry weaving. This will enable her to further explore the potential of the three dimensional techniques she has devised over the previous year. Without the Qest scholarship she would not be able to complete the MFA.

She has recently exhibited in and co curated an exhibition at the Jerwood Gridshell Space in Singleton, West Sussex. She also has a piece of work accepted into ‘artapestry 4’ an exhibition of tapestry due to tour Europe for two years starting in January 2015.

In the future Margaret will promote the craft of tapestry weaving, increasing its visibility through exhibiting and curating at exclusive venues both in London and across the UK.
