Clare is a master saddler and Society of Master Saddler’s qualified saddle fitter. Based in the New Forest, she runs Bearhouse Saddlery, a successful rural saddlery workshop with her husband and daughter. QEST enabled Clare to train with Richard Godden and learn to refurbish and make side saddles.
Clare has attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show to display and demonstrate the making of side saddles in the QEST area of the Royal Warrant Holders Association pavilion. She has also demonstrated the manufacture of the saddles at many grass roots pony club shows and riding clubs.
As well as working with traditional saddlery, Clare also makes bags and other bespoke leather items.
