Mary is a leather designer and harness maker based in London. Having gained a distinction in her Fashion Design & Technology degree at London College of Fashion, with a love of leather and equine influence in her work, Mary decided to take a two year saddlery course to improve her leather craft skills for her fashion work. On completion of this course she received a QEST Leathersellers’ Company Scholarship to study with traditional whip maker Dennis Walmsley.
Mary is a member of The Society of Master Saddlers, qualified City & Guilds Harness Maker, Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers and has been awarded a City & Guilds Lion Award trophy for Creative Craftsperson of the Year. She founded Whip in Hand, creating bespoke, luxury whips and now runs a fashion atelier for Chanel.
