Interior Designers Showcase Crafts by QEST Makers at WOW!house
11th June 2023
Several interior designers have selected crafts by QEST makers to complete their rooms at WOW!house – a unique 500sqm showhouse built within the Design Avenue at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.
New York-based interior designer Joy Moyler has combined a bold colour palette with strong architectural details to create a theatrical dining room so comfortable and filled with detail (even the ceiling – thatched by master thatcher Joe Thornton – has dimension and texture) that visitors will be tempted to stay to eat, drink and gossip long into the night.
Her concept brings together all the disciplines closest to her heart – including art in the intriguing, folded fabric wall piece by textile artist Dr Hannah White, and fine craftsmanship in the metal gates forged by James Osborne.
Colourful and geometric wall tiles by ceramicist Frances Priest feature on the outdoor terrace designed by Studio Winch for room sponsor Summit Furniture. Coastal glamour meets regency Hollywood of the 1950s and 1960s in the imagined, elegant beach front retreat.
The interiors arm of QEST supporter and design company Winch Design, Studio Winch decorates and styles for both residential and commercial spaces under the watchwords, ‘collected, crafted, curated’
An abstracted scene of weather, nature and architecture, hand painted across a grid pattern of cross-hatching, washes and colour surrounds you in the De Gournay Morning Room, transporting you to a beautiful, dream-like land. The chimerical space is the creation of Waldo Works and room sponsor de Gournay, makers of hand painted and hand embroidered wallcoverings, and features black pâte de verre glass leaves by Anne Petters.
‘The extraordinary delicate glass leaf by Anne Petters floating in the illustrated sky of De Gournay and Waldo Works painted wallpaper makes a pleasingly poetic combination’ comments Waldo Works.
Holding 18 full-size rooms created by world-class interior designers working in collaboration with globally recognised design brands and incredible suppliers, WOW!house allows visitors to experience first-hand what is normally out of reach – the work of masters in their field.
WOW!House is open Monday-Saturday from 10am-6.30pm until Thursday 6 July. Tickets start at £20 and are available at www.dcch.co.uk/wowhouse/tickets
