QEST and Sun Culture Foundation Sign Partnership

QEST is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Sun Culture Foundation, opening up exciting new opportunities for QEST Scholars and strengthening connections between craft communities in the UK and China.

Connecting Craft, Culture and Creativity

The Sun Culture Foundation was established in Hong Kong in 2005 and has a longstanding commitment to educational opportunities and children’s holistic development. Through its programmes across mainland China and Hong Kong, the Foundation supports art education in rural and county schools, helping young people develop imagination, creativity, teamwork and confidence.

The shared commitment of both organisations to education and the next generation provides a strong foundation for this partnership. Together, QEST and the Sun Culture Foundation will explore new ways to connect people with craft and encourage greater understanding of the skills, heritage and creativity behind traditional and contemporary making.

Celebrating the Partnership at Somerset House

The partnership was announced alongside the launch of Reviving Craft: Reflection of the Mind, a major exhibition exploring China’s living craft heritage and its relationship with contemporary design.

Featuring more than 70 artists, the exhibition brings together work across stoneware, ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles and furniture. Traditional techniques are presented alongside digital and immersive elements, creating new ways for audiences to experience and engage with China’s craft heritage.

The exhibition forms part of the official London Design Festival programme and is free to visit at Somerset House until 27 September 2026.

This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for QEST, strengthening cultural connections through craft. We look forward to seeing the relationships, knowledge and creative possibilities that develop through this collaboration over the next five years.
