Shelley Anderson

2011 QEST Hedley Foundation Scholar - Metalwork
Cornwall

Shelley is a coppersmith who works with a variety of metals from his studio in Cornwall. He is passionate about keeping the art of coppersmithing alive, and studied Silversmithing and Metal Fabrication at Falmouth College of Art. To fund his studies, Shelley designed and produced his own range of jewellery as well as a series of marine life, including lobsters and swordfish, made entirely from recycled cutlery.

A QEST Hedley Foundation Scholarship supported Shelley during a one-year apprenticeship at The Copper Works under the tutelage of Michael Johnson. During this time he undertook a diverse range of assignments from restoration and repairs of water features and interior ornaments as well as work from the National Trust and ecclesiastical projects.

Since then Shelley has worked on pieces for Disney, Harrods and Hilton, and regularly teaches. He has built a large roof sculpture for Eton College and held numerous exhibitions in London.
