Wayne received a QEST Scholarship to further his techniques in Japanese metalworking -inlay zougan and line inlay kensadi – working alongside several Japanese Living National Treasures. Wayne has been accepted into this elite arena because of his dedication, focus, passion for his subject and his work ethic in making beautiful conceptual works that have an essence of both British craft and Japanese techniques.
Wayne has also taught and given lectures alongside Katsura Morohito, who holds the highest medal of craft given by the Emperor of Japan. He is continuously striving to push the boundaries of his craft and time and time again he has returned to Japan to share his knowledge about the spiritual beliefs within his works.
