The Art of Welcoming opens until 8 September
18th May 2026
‘The Art of Welcoming’ unfolds as a new cultural chapter at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, developed in collaboration with QEST and curated by Mayfair Design District.
Exploring hospitality as both ritual and art form, the exhibition brings together artists and makers whose practices examine how craft, material and atmosphere shape the emotional experience of space. Installed throughout the hotel, the works consider welcoming not as spectacle, but as a language expressed through objects, textures, light and quiet gestures of care.
As part of The Living Square, the evolving cultural programme rooted in Hanover Square’s legacy of exchange, the exhibition invites guests into a contemporary salon where craft, design and human connection meet.
Rooted in Mayfair, shaped by craft and cultural exchange.

Participating Artists
The Art of Welcoming brings together 12 makers who have received funding from QEST to support their training and education. The selected works explore how objects shape atmosphere, emotion, and the subtle rituals of hospitality. From tactile materials to quietly functional forms, the exhibition focuses on pieces that invite pause, comfort, and a sense of home.
